Event Description:
The US domestic market is large and strong which gives us a solid base from which to springboard into the rest of the world where 95% of the world's population and 70% of the world's buying power resides.   The international market can seem confusing at first, but it also presents great opportunities for business expansion.   This presentation will cover a basic overview of exporting and how you can take advantage of it for your business.

This workshop will teach you about:
the benefits of exporting, what's needed in order to export, how to do it, and what resources are available to help you through the process via the Illinois International Trade Center here at the Joseph Business School.

Who should attend?:
Current exporters and companies thinking about exporting, sales and marketing managers, operations managers, finance managers, general managers, business owners, and students.

About the presenter:

Brian Butler is the Director of the Illinois SBDC International Trade Center at the Joseph Business School in Forest Park, IL which he helped launch in 2018.   He assists companies in starting to export as well as in expanding their current export business.  He does this with resources available at the International Trade Center as well as in partnership with the State of Illinois Office of Trade and Investment (OTI), the US Commercial Service, the EXIM Bank, the Chicago Regional Growth Corporation’s Metro Chicago Exports program, and many other global entities.  He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese and worked in international sales management roles for 20 years prior to coming to the International Trade Center.    He has served as a bridge between US manufacturers and the international market by establishing and developing overseas distribution networks via dealers, distributors, sales/service agents, and joint venture partners.

He has specialized in the Latin American and Caribbean markets having done business in 20 countries throughout this region which included extensive travel as well as local assignments while living in Colombia, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Nicaragua, and Haiti.  However, he has also done business with Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia.
